Quiz on Kafka-Week Four

1. The ordinary world occurs before the beginning of the story (when all is well). The call to adventure occurs when everyone in the family has to adapt to the transformation. All three family members find a job and house tenants to support themselves economically.

2. The main social issue being critiqued in the story is the exaggeration of fear. The Metamorphosis plays on the irrational fear that many people have of insects. In The Red Scare, another irrational fear—that of communists—is used to ensue a witch-hunt for the personal gain of power.

3. An insect.
